The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Delta Central and Deputy Senate President of the 9th Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has raised the alarm over an alleged threat to his life ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Agege alleged that the Delta State Government should be held accountable should anything happen to him or members of his family as he begins his campaign activities ahead of the elections.
The former Deputy Senate President made this known in the early hours of Thursday, August 20, 2026, through his official social media handles.
Omo-Agege alleged that threats to his life and those of his family members were increasing ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections. He claimed that the threats were emanating from the Delta State Government House in Asaba.
In a statement, he said: “I note with grave concern the disturbing and increasingly credible threats to my life and my family members in Delta State emanating from the Delta State Government House, Asaba.
“As I commence the campaigns, beginning today with stops in Uvwie Local Government Area, and the other seven (7) Local Government Areas, I want the Nigerian public, the international community, civil-society organisations, the media, and all security agencies to take formal notice:
“Should anything untoward happens to me or members of my family, the Nigerian people and more particularly the Urhobo people of Delta Central senatorial district should HOLD the Governor of Delta State Elder Sheriff Oborevwori responsible and accountable.”
Omo-Agege’s allegation comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with campaigns expected to draw increased attention across Delta Central Senatorial District.
