Benin City – The Edo State Police Command has declared Joan Osato Osemwegie wanted over her alleged involvement in the practice of lesbianism, an act punishable by 14 years of imprisonment according to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Catholic Beacon gathered that Osemwegie’s declaration, dated December 17, 2023, followed a tip-off from the Edo State royal family after its internal declaration, giving the offender a seven-day ultimatum to come forth to perform Edo people’s cleansing rites for her sacrilegious and abominable act of same-sex practice, which the people described as deadly.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed Osemwegie’s status as a wanted person for lesbianism, stating that information from the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, gave them the mandate to bring her to justice at all costs for desecrating Edo land.
“All eyes should be on the lookout, and anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Osemwegie will be highly rewarded.”
It was further reported by an undisclosed close family source that the fleeing Osemwegie is the wife of Prince Uyi Eweka, a member of the Benin royal family, Edo State.
