An unfortunate incident occurred in Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, as a farmer, Mr Okoh Chukwuma Theophilus has absconded following the altercation with some herdsmen who invaded his farmland with their cattle and destroyed his crops.
It was gathered that Mr. Theophilus lost his farmland to the cattle after they destroyed his crops including corns and cassava.
News has it that on Wednesday December 17, 2025, Mr Theophilus, who is known as great farmer, visited his farm and discovered that cattle have eaten and destroyed his crops which he invested huge money to cultivate and take care of his family.
It was also gathered that one of the cattle (cow) died on the farmland of Mr Theophilus which eventually angered and made the herdsmen to attack him, but with the assistance of few farmers who were around cultivating on their farms at that moment rescued Mr Theophilus upon hearing his screaming, and was eventually taken to hospital.
While in the hospital, the wife of Mr Theophilus deemed it necessary to go to the police station and reported the ugly incident, and was given a police report.
On Saturday December 20, 2025, it was reported that the same herdsmen suddenly visited the house of Mr Theophilus, though he was not around when they came, but they attacked his wife and children, raped his wife and left a message that they will revisit and deal with Mr Theophilus whom they claimed killed their cow.
Because of the threat of the herdsmen, it was learnt that Mr Theophilus relocated his wife and children to Awada village in Anambra State where his wife hails from.
After Mr Theophilus has successfully relocated his family to Anambra State, he decided to run away from Umunede to save his life and avoid encountering the herdsmen.
