The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly, Aniocha North Constituency II, Engr. Kelvin Uche Okolie, has assured constituents that his representation, if elected, will be anchored on inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and the delivery of meaningful dividends of democracy.
Engr. Okolie gave the assurance during appreciation visits to PDP executives in Ugboba and Idumuogo communities following his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.
Addressing party executives and supporters who turned out in large numbers to receive him, Engr. Okolie pledged to place the interests of the people above personal interests or those of a privileged few.
According to him, “For every project allocated to our constituency by the state government, we will seek the input of everyone to ensure it addresses the immediate needs of our people.
“We will not practice the kind of representation where funds meant for projects are first subjected to the decisions of a few so-called leaders who determine how our commonwealth is spent, take the lion’s share, and leave little to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.”
He urged the electorate to reject candidates who, according to him, were imposed to serve the interests of political benefactors rather than the people, warning against electing leaders who see public office as a means of personal enrichment.
“Some politicians cannot sustain themselves after leaving office because they spent their time in government servicing their benefactors instead of serving the people. If you elect such individuals, you should not expect good representation,” he said.
Engr. Okolie further assured the people of an all-inclusive style of leadership in which every stakeholder would have a voice in decision-making across the constituency.
In his remarks, Innocent Onwochei called on the people to support the candidacy of Engr. Kelvin Uche Okolie, saying it was an opportunity for the constituency to break free from external political influence and ensure leadership that truly represents the interests of Idumuje/Odiani.
Similarly, the PDP Local Government Chairman, Hon. Julius Ego, urged supporters to resist intimidation and reject candidates imposed by political godfathers. He maintained that only leaders chosen by the people would remain accountable to them.
The Aniocha North PDP Chairman also expressed confidence in Engr. Okolie’s ability to provide quality representation, describing him as the preferred choice of the people of Idumuje/Odiani. He noted that such a mandate would ensure loyalty to the people rather than to a select few.
In his words, “Do not make the mistake of voting for candidates imposed by individuals who do not understand your challenges. Such representatives will only divert the commonwealth meant for the people to a privileged few.”
The well-attended event attracted a large turnout of party faithful and supporters, with the venues in both Ugboba and Idumuogo filled to capacity. It was attended by party leaders at the state and local government levels, including Chief (Dr.) Nwaebuni, Hon. Steve Basime, Hon. Sunday Okenyi, among other stakeholders and supporters.
